About Behala Naba Proyas
In the year 1988, Late Gauri Chatterjee started a small unit with 3 challenged children at her own residence at 28 Hazra Road, Kolkata – 19,West Bengal, India and named it as Chitta Bharati Proyas. Later the name was changed to Behala Naba Proyas. With the increase in the number of special children of different categories (Severe, Autistic, Down Syndrome, mild, Multiple Disability) and hearing impaired, the school was shifted to Behala as a day school in a three roomed accommodation. But It was in the mezzanine floor room of Gouri Chatterjee’s residence where the seeds of to-days Behala Naba Proyas was sown.
